Welcome back to the Spring Semester. As you may have been informed, we recently lost one of our students, Gianna Jones. During this time, it is more important than ever that we take the time to support our students and build relationships as we prepare them to move towards the future of their dreams. I was extremely proud and thankful to hear of the connections our staff made with Gianna; some staff have known her for many years. To that end, we will continue to focus on the ways we can support our students. We are only here because of them.

Dear Eastside Community, Welcome to December! The close of the semester is often one of the busiest times of the year. STAAR for our students taking the retest begins tomorrow. All other students will have a regular school day, with some exceptions.

We hope you are full and fulfilled from Thanksgiving Break! Spending time with family and friends is always rejuvenating. As we continue the privilege of serving our Eastside students today, we recognize just how important the remaining four weeks of the semester will be. STAAR Testing and Final Exams are looming. Please continue monitoring your students grades and attendance, and ask about their day. Though this time is associated with joyful cheer, it can also be extremely stressful. Together, we can make this time both impactful and memorable for all the right reasons.

Hello Panther Family, This week, we are beginning to ramp up our focus on college and career readiness. Specifically, our freshmen will be taking the TSI this week during their AVID classes.

Monday, September 11 marked 22 years since the tragic events of September 11. Yesterday, we commemorated the events of that day with a moment of silence at the beginning of the first class period of the day.

We are entering the third week of the new school year! Even though we are still at the beginning of the school year, we have many things to be thankful for. As the honeymoon phase is beginning to fade, we are continuing to focus on our mission of developing relevant learning experiences for our students each day. This week, we will focus on maximizing our time in the classroom, as it is important that we ensure students learn each day.

Thank you for a great first week of school! It was so great to see strong relationships being built, relevant and engaging lessons being taught, and a sense of campus pride. Before moving forward, I would be amiss if I did not acknowledge the tragedy that took place at Travis HS last week. Please keep the Travis HS community in your thoughts and prayers.
