MackinVia Challenge

Eastside Memorial High School’s Library Club is promoting literacy amongst campus students and staff by increasing access and incentive to pick up a book and read. EMHS librarian, Jill Brady, and juniors Isabel Rivera - Hernandez and Korena Martinez, created the ‘MackinVia Challenge’ board – in hopes of spreading the value of literacy, creating further access to alternate methods of reading a book and implementing a form of comfort when reading.

As newer and high-tech methods of accessing news and gathering information increase, fewer students are inclined to stop by the library and physically check out a book. MackinVia is a system that reformats literacy engagement, by offering free digital access to eBooks and audio books for all EMHS students and staff with just a few clicks! You can download the MackinVia App and/or access it through the portal – simply enter an ID&password of austin019 and browse away. And if free access to over 1,000 best-selling titles isn’t enough, from Nov-January 2019 – if you show Ms. Brady a completed eBook you will receive a free poptart!
